This was our second year at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Colorado Springs. Due to COVID, only 22 ladies chose to attend this year. With fewer numbers, there was plenty of room to spread out and we each had our own table.
We had the same two very well-lit rooms for sewing, one with nice windows, but both with good lighting for evening sewing. The hallway between offers a nice coffee bar (with real mugs) from 6:00a, or hot water & a selection of tea - especially nice in the evening.
With the Sewing areas available at 9:30a on our first day, most of us were too tired to stay up late.
While not large, the rooms are very nice with comfortable beds. Every room has a private bath.
The Dining Room is a short walk, though a few ladies went back/forth by car. This year our meals were plated/served instead of having a buffet, but no one was left hungry! We took only breakfast and dinner in the Dining hall, with a snack provided for us in our Sewing area - ham/cheese/crackers on Day1, a huge veggie tray on Day2, and a luscious tray of fruit on Day 3 - and most of us took our plate out to the tables in the courtyard.
Shirley got a hair trim, there were lots of hidden prizes to find each day, and we played a couple of games - Toss the Thimble! Taking a late afternoon break, several of us also enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner - some of us brought a bottle to share.
The grounds are lovely - very peaceful - good for a walk or just a break. The deer are plentiful and not shy - see the Greeting Committee below!
